Brightonian musician Bess Atwell is not afraid to reveal her inner struggles and personal family stories in unfeigned songs. The singles 'Sylvester' and 'Release Myself', precursors of the new record on which she collaborated with Aaron Dessner of The National, are beautiful fragile folk gems. Bess' abstract images of loneliness are agonisingly recognisable, swirled in her gently comforting voice. Bess Atwell's tender indie pop is made for the Dageraad stage.
